Audra Boyle in front of Looc, May 24, 2011
I was running errands for the Boston Globe today in the South End, so of course I popped into Looc. It’s the boutique’s last day in business. I remember meeting Audra and her then partner Shawna almost four years ago, to interview them about their new store (“Je T’aime Paris,” Daily Candy). In a former photography studio, with flea market sourced decor, and a roster of labels mostly unknown to Boston, Looc perfected the sophisticated but easy-to-wear aesthetic of Nantucket by way of St. Tropez.
Today, many well wishers from the neighborhood stopped in to say goodbye. Luckily, Audra was there too (sans bébé). She says she’s not quite sure what’s next, but with her impeccable taste and creativity, we’re certain to be hearing about another venture.
There are still a few pieces left in store, including looks by Rag & Bone, What Comes Around Goes Around, Ulla Jackson, Isabel Marant and under-the-radar jewelry designers.
Bye bye Looc. It’s been cool. ; )
